WonderCon was a HUGE success and tons of fun! I met so many cool people and never really had a chance to walk the con floor because you were all so cool to stop by and say hi! I really appreciate all the kind words you had for my work! If I learned anything at the show it was to work more in my "style" rather than following the styles of the characters I was drawing. What does this mean? Well, in the future my Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors or Regular Show drawings may look a lot less like the cartoons and more like what you see in my gallery.

As for other conventions I will have a table at, the next one will be Big Wow Comicfest in San Jose! I will be sharing a table with inker Livesay so I'll only have a few prints with me. Come say HI if you're going! After that, I'll be at the Long Beach Comic Expo! I should have all my prints and sketch covers with me at that show. This year the Expo is 2 days so come on out and see me! In June I will be attending "Fan Alley" a small mini convention held at Community in Anaheim where they also have a bunch of small businesses with cool handmade items! After that is San Diego Comic-Con but I will only be attending that show as getting a table is next to impossible. Finally the show to cap off convention season is the Long Beach Comic-Con! That was the first show I ever had a table at and every year it gets better and better! By then I should have quite a few Fight Scene comics up on Eat/Geek/Play and some more prints to sell!

Action!

Journal Entry: Thu May 16, 2013, 2:15 PM

Lately I've been drawing on paper then scanning the image into Photoshop to digitally ink it. Occasionally I like to ink with pens on paper to get a more organic feel but I'm rather OCD so I don't want to mess up my original drawing. I use an action I created to turn the scanned lineart into non-repro blue so I can print it out and ink right on top of it then scan just the inks back into Photoshop. I've tweaked the action over the years and I think this version is almost perfect. It'll take any image file and convert it to 30% Cyan. On my printer it's just the right shade so my scanner doesn't pick it up when scanning the inks. I made the action downloadable so you can use it and save yourself the headache of messing with channels. Give it a try and if you find it useful, give me credit on Twitter or whatever other social media is out there! So far it works on both PC and Mac on Photoshop CS5 and CS6. Give it a shot on older versions and if it works let me know!

Enjoy!

Roomies the web series

Journal Entry: Fri Mar 8, 2013, 2:05 PM

I recently decided to expand my creative wings and write a web series! It all happened spur of the moment with a small group of guys who have quickly become good friends. It started with them goofing around one weekend with a "Red" camera and they came up with this idea of mismatched roommates and improvised a short film. One of those roommates is my good friend since I was a wee lad of 18. He told me about the idea and asked if I had some ideas for more episodes. One week later I wrote my very first script! A short time after that I wrote 4 more as well as a bunch of short commercial like episodes. We shot all of the episodes in North Hollywood on 2 of the hottest weekends ever! Now they have been edited and will start airing on YouTube on March 21st! I'm so excited to show off all our hard work so PLEASE check out our Facebook page and give us a LIKE!

Long Beach Comic Con!

Journal Entry: Tue Oct 16, 2012, 2:29 PM

I will be at Long Beach Comic Con Nov. 3-4 at booth 2010! This is my first convention (with a table that is) so please come by and say HI! I'll be selling my Limited Edition Wanted poster print and giving out free stickers/sketches. It should be fun!!

New name!

Journal Entry: Fri May 18, 2012, 2:14 PM

Finally deviantART added the ability to change usernames! From now on my username will be DotProblems (same as my comic strip). Unless I don't like it then i'll change it to something else in 6 months. ;) My old username was linked to my website blackguard.com but that site hasn't been updated in forever. I plan to bring it back at some point and hopefully launch a comic project of the same name on it. In the meantime, I have a new comic strip to draw and need to start planning for San Diego Comic-Con in July!

San Diego Comic-Con is next week! Can you believe it? It's been a year already. Wow. This year looks like it will be so much fun, I can't wait. I printed up a bunch of postcards to give out and even ordered magnets! Check out the postcard HERE. Since Deviant Art is now sponsoring Artist Alley at SDCC I might sign up to get a table next year. I really need to promote my comic strip more and I think that's the perfect venue. So if you're going to SDCC be on the lookout for ME and I'll give you a postcard/magnet (while supplies last).

See you at SDCC!

Happy New Year Deviants!

It's 2011 and in the spirit of New Years Resolutions, I'm hoping to post new sketches more often. Just something to keep the creativity flowing. I remember 10 years ago drawing every day and I'd like to go back to that mindset. I just posted my first page of sketches and hope to do a lot more before this year is over.

Merry Christmas!

Journal Entry: Wed Dec 22, 2010, 6:02 PM
Merry Christmas everyone! I am currently in Pennsylvania and have been enjoying the time with my family in the cold weather I was raised in. I was hoping for snow but so far, nothing. Anyway it made me realize how much my family means to me and I'm glad I get to spend the holidays with them. It's a good recharge to the battery and hopefully will make 2011 very creative.

I picked up Chew #15 today and my Chew pinup was in it! How cool is THAT? It's such a great comic and I feel honored to have my art in it for the world to see. Go out and buy a copy or 10! I did.

Think I'll start on an Invincible pinup next...
